S1/E2: Restoring the Legacy
Welcome back to the second episode of Links London: Behind the Scenes, where we dive deep into our journey of reviving a British jewellery legacy. In this episode, we’re tackling the tech that powers our restoration efforts—our newly acquired Apple Mac Pro 2013, a vintage piece of technology that complements our passion for restoration.
Unboxing the Mac Pro 2013
In this episode, we take a look at the sleek and compact Apple Mac Pro 2013. Despite being considered “outdated” in tech years, this machine has plenty of charm—much like our vintage jewellery pieces. We discuss its original reception and how, even today, it continues to turn heads for its design and capabilities (with a few limitations!).
Dusty Beginnings
After unboxing the Mac Pro, we encountered an unexpected surprise: a dust tornado inside the machine! We dive into the cleaning process and how a little TLC can bring both old tech and old jewellery back to life. This resonates deeply with our mission at Links London—taking the time to restore and refresh the pieces that deserve a second chance.
Tech Meets Jewellery
We then put the Mac Pro to the test by editing some 4K video footage and quickly found its limitations. While it may not be the best machine for heavy video editing, it’s perfect for website building, emails, and lighter tasks—just what we need as we build out our digital presence for Links London.
Looking Ahead
With our Mac Pro cleaned and ready, we’ll be using this machine to build the Links London website and continue creating content that tells the story of our brand’s rebirth. Whether it’s jewellery or tech, we love finding the beauty in vintage and making it relevant for today.
Stay tuned for future episodes as we dive into more behind-the-scenes content, restoration projects, and perhaps even some jewellery design work!
