Jewellery Size Guide

Jewellery fit depends on the design, construction and proportions of the individual piece. Use the measurements stated in each product listing and ask Client Care if you need an additional measurement before ordering.

Rings

• Use the UK letter size: UK ring sizes are expressed as letters. The UK letter stated in the individual listing is the size of the ring being offered.
• Confirm with a UK ring gauge: A physical UK ring gauge or measurement by a jeweller is the most reliable way to establish your size. The gauge should pass comfortably over the knuckle and sit securely at the base of the finger.
• Millimetres are reference measurements only: An internal circumference or diameter may be provided to help describe a ring, but it is not an alternative UK size and should not be treated as a conversion.
• Avoid international conversion charts: Different national systems and commercial charts do not always identify the same physical fit. We do not use them to determine a UK ring size.
• Allow for the individual ring: Band width, profile and previous resizing can affect how a vintage ring feels. A broad ring may fit differently from a narrow ring carrying the same UK letter size.

Bracelets and Bangles

• Compare the listing measurements: Measure your wrist closely with a soft measuring tape, without adding a universal allowance, and compare it with the usable length or internal dimensions stated for the individual piece.
• Sweetie and elasticated bracelets: Fit can vary with the number and dimensions of the links and the condition or replacement of the elastic. Use the measurements given for the actual bracelet rather than assuming a standard size.
• Rigid bangles: Wrist circumference alone may not establish whether a closed bangle will pass over the hand. Compare the stated internal width and height with a bangle that already fits, or ask us for further measurements.
• Hinged and fitted designs: Check the internal dimensions, opening and fastening described in the listing. The appropriate amount of movement depends on the construction and intended fit.

Necklaces

• Use the stated wearable length: Necklace listings give the available chain length or adjustment points. Compare these with a necklace that already sits where you prefer.
• Consider the pendant: Pendant dimensions and drop are recorded separately where relevant. They can alter the visual position and balance of the necklace.
• Placement varies: The same chain length can sit differently according to neck circumference, clothing, pendant weight and chain construction. Standard length descriptions are therefore guidance only.

Vintage Jewellery

Vintage pieces may differ slightly from historic catalogue dimensions because of hand finishing, wear, restoration, restringing or previous alteration. The measurements and UK size stated in the individual product listing describe the actual piece offered and take precedence over general guidance.
