Every year, London transforms into a city of lights, reflections and atmosphere during the festive season. For Christmas 2025, we set out across the capital to capture the true spirit of the city at this time of year – the lights, the architecture, the decorations, and the unmistakable feeling that Christmas is approaching. This time, we kept it real: no AI-generated fantasy scenes, just London as it genuinely looks in late November and December.
What began as a plan for a polished, behind-the-scenes production quickly turned into an authentic, rain-soaked Christmas mission. The weather had other ideas. London was drenched, umbrellas were everywhere, and reflections covered every pavement – but in its own way, it made the night even more magical.
Our Festive Route Through the Capital
This journey took us through some of London’s most iconic Christmas destinations, including:
- Covent Garden – twinkling lights, the giant Christmas tree, the piazza, hidden corners and St Paul’s Church.
- Cecil Court – a charming, literary lane glowing with subtle decoration.
- Trafalgar Square – awaiting its traditional Christmas tree gifted by Norway.
- Regent Street – home of the Spirit of Christmas angel lights.
- St James’s – the perfect backdrop for iconic London festive photography.
- Piccadilly – a burst of energy and colour en route to Bond Street.
- Bond Street – Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Mikimoto and Boodles illuminated in spectacular fashion.
- Burlington and Piccadilly Arcades – classic, elegant and unmistakeably London.

Each stop offered something different: quiet moments, grand displays, calm courtyards and crowded pavements. And although the rain made filming difficult, it created a cinematic atmosphere you simply cannot artificially recreate – wet stone, glowing streetlights, umbrellas drifting past and reflections everywhere.

Capturing the Real Spirit of Christmas
This project wasn’t just about photography; it was about immersing ourselves in the genuine seasonal atmosphere of London. These images and video clips are now part of our festive collection on Links.London, helping bring the feeling of Christmas in the capital to everyone who visits our website this season.

Christmas in London isn’t only about the decorations. It’s the mix of heritage and modernity, the theatre district glowing under the rain, the calm of a church courtyard, and the grandeur of world-famous shopping streets. It’s a city that knows how to celebrate – sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly – always beautifully.
