Links of London interpreted the zodiac in several different ways across its jewellery, and this Sagittarius Zodiac Disc Charm is one of the more graphic approaches.
Rather than simply engraving the Sagittarius symbol onto a plain silver disc, the design builds the familiar arrow glyph into a series of repeated concentric lines that spread across the entire front surface.
The reverse takes the opposite approach. It is largely plain and polished, with “Sagittarius” engraved across the lower half of the disc.

The Sagittarius Zodiac Symbol
Sagittarius is traditionally represented by an arrow, reflecting the sign’s association with the archer.
On this Links of London charm, the arrow symbol forms the central element of the composition. Repeated recessed lines follow its outline before expanding outward towards the edge of the circular disc.
This creates an almost topographical appearance, giving a relatively small piece of sterling silver considerably more visual depth than a conventional flat zodiac pendant.

Concentric Line Design
The defining feature of the charm is the pattern surrounding the Sagittarius glyph.
Each line follows the geometry of the central symbol before gradually becoming more circular as it moves towards the outer edge. The result is a layered design that changes character according to the angle of the light.
The recessed lines also provide texture while leaving the raised silver surfaces brightly polished.

Sagittarius Engraved on the Reverse
The reverse of the charm is deliberately simpler.
Instead of repeating the graphic treatment from the front, the polished back is engraved with the word “Sagittarius”.
This direct identification creates an interesting contrast between the symbolic front and the written reverse: one side communicates the zodiac sign through imagery, while the other names it explicitly.

Dimensions of a Surviving Example
A surviving example documented by Links London measures approximately:
- Disc diameter: 15mm
- Disc thickness: 1.3mm
- Oval bail: 9mm × 7mm
- Material: Sterling silver
The standard Links of London oval bail allows the charm to be worn from a compatible bracelet or necklace up to approximately 5mm wide.
For Sweetie bracelet wear, it can also be attached using a sterling silver split ring.

A Surviving 2010 Hallmarked Example
The example documented here is hallmarked LL, 925 with a date letter for 2011.
The hallmark dates this particular surviving charm rather than establishing when the Sagittarius Zodiac Disc design was first introduced.
This distinction is important when documenting Links of London jewellery, as individual designs could remain available across several production years.

Part of a Wider Zodiac Disc Family
Related Links of London zodiac charms survive for other signs using the same basic format: a circular sterling silver disc, a sign-specific symbol worked into concentric line detailing on the front, and the zodiac name engraved on the reverse.
This establishes the Sagittarius charm as part of a broader Zodiac Disc design family rather than a one-off astrology motif.
The repeated structure also makes the family particularly useful for identifying individual signs while preserving a consistent design language across the complete zodiac.

The 2010 example documented here has been professionally cleaned and polished and remains in great vintage condition.
The recessed concentric pattern, central Sagittarius glyph and engraved reverse remain crisp and clearly legible.

Documenting the Sagittarius Zodiac Disc Charm
The Sagittarius Zodiac Disc Charm shows how Links of London could take a familiar symbolic subject and give it a more distinctive visual identity.
The design is still immediately recognisable as a zodiac charm, but the repeated contour-like pattern prevents it from becoming simply another engraved silver disc.
At only 15mm across, it combines astrology, typography and geometric surface design in a particularly compact form — with the Sagittarius symbol on one side and its name on the other.

Links of London Zodiac Jewellery
As further examples of the Zodiac Disc series are documented, the family provides a useful picture of how Links of London approached personalised and symbolic jewellery during the original years of the house.
Each charm shares the same fundamental structure while changing the central graphic according to the individual zodiac sign, creating a coherent series with a clear identity of its own.
