A British Sporting Motif
The pheasant in flight is one of the most recognisable motifs within British country sporting tradition. Within the Links of London gentleman’s collection, this imagery was interpreted in fully hallmarked sterling silver, combining sculptural detail with formal restraint.

The design presents a pheasant mid-flight, wings extended, with selective gilt detailing to highlight feather structure. The contrast between polished silver and warm gilt creates depth while maintaining composure.

Form and Construction
The bird motif measures approximately 34mm in length and 28mm across the wings, with a thickness of 3.5mm. Each bird is connected by chain to a cylindrical cartridge-form back measuring approximately 18mm in length and 5mm in diameter.

This double-ended chain construction allows natural articulation between cuff layers and reflects a more traditional cufflink form than later swivel fittings.

Hallmarked British Silver
Examples of this design are fully UK hallmarked with the LL sponsor’s mark and 925 fineness stamp. Surviving pairs from the archive carry early 2000s date letters, confirming production during a period when Links of London maintained full assay standards across its gentleman’s accessories.

Country Heritage and Formal Dress
Pheasant motifs are closely associated with the British shoot season and country estate tradition. In jewellery form, they function as subtle cultural references rather than literal representation.

Links of London approached the sporting subject with polish rather than rusticity. The birds are sculpted with control, the gilt restrained, and the proportions balanced for formal wear.

Position Within the Gentleman’s Collection
Within the broader cufflink range, pheasant designs sit alongside classic bar forms and other heritage motifs. They offer narrative presence while remaining fully within the conventions of formal silver jewellery.

As part of the house archive, this design reflects the period in which Links of London combined British sporting symbolism with fully hallmarked sterling silver craftsmanship.
