Q & A

This vintage Links of London Moskova Imperial Rouble pendant charm is formed as a round sterling silver disc in the style of a worn Russian coin, with a double-headed eagle to one side and a wheatsheaf to the other. Around the eagle side runs a border of white topaz, adding a more decorative frame to the coin motif while preserving the aged, softly modelled character of the design. Although it can also be worn as a charm, the proportions and standard Links of London bail make it particularly suited to use as a pendant.

The piece measures approximately 16mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness, with an overall height of approximately 21mm including the jump ring. The oval bail measures approximately 9mm by 7mm and will take a necklace or bracelet up to approximately 5mm wide. Its dimensions place it within the more substantial Links of London charm and pendant format, allowing it to sit comfortably on a necklace while remaining fully compatible with bracelet wear.

This example is hallmarked LL and 925 and carries a date letter for 2006. The double-headed eagle and wheatsheaf reflect the Russian Imperial references associated with the Moskova design story, while the surrounding white topaz gives the front a more jewelled finish than the plainer coin-style versions. The surface has been professionally cleaned and polished and remains in good vintage condition. As with the original design intention, the piece retains the softened appearance of a vintage Russian coin, so the finish is not intended to read as sharply modern.

Supplied with a split ring for Sweetie attachment, this is a versatile Links of London piece that can be worn either as a pendant or as a charm. The contrast between the coin-like relief and the white topaz surround gives it a distinctive character within the house’s Russian-inspired designs, combining ornamental detail with the familiar Links of London charm format.
