Vintage Links of London Playing Card Cufflinks Sterling Silver Red Black Enamel

A characterful menswear design from the original Links of London years, these Vintage Links of London Playing Card Cufflinks recreate miniature playing cards in sterling silver with contrasting red and black enamel suit details.

Each cufflink is double-ended, with two rectangular card faces connected by a short sterling silver chain. Across the complete pair, all four traditional playing-card suits are represented: the Five of Hearts, Five of Diamonds, Five of Clubs and Five of Spades.

The red suits are picked out in red enamel and the black suits in dark enamel, while the numeral 5 appears at opposing corners of each card. The result is a witty but refined design that fits naturally within the early Links of London tradition of turning familiar objects and pastimes into jewellery.

Each card measures approximately 17mm × 11mm × 1.4mm thick. The two ends are joined by an approximately 18mm chain incorporating a larger central oval link.

The central link is engraved Links London on one side and hallmarked LL, 925 with a date letter for 2004 on the other.

All Four Playing Card Suits

The design is particularly effective because the full pair incorporates all four suits rather than repeating the same card.

Hearts and diamonds are finished with red enamel, while clubs and spades use a contrasting dark enamel. Each miniature card carries the value five, giving the pair a deliberately coordinated appearance despite the different suit symbols.

The use of all four suits also makes the design broader than a specifically poker-themed accessory. It is better understood first as a playing-card design, with poker, casino and card-game associations providing additional context.

Traditional Double-Ended Chain Cufflinks

Each cufflink is formed from two card plaques connected by an approximately 18mm chain.

The larger central oval link provides both branding and hallmark information, carrying the Links London name on one side and the LL, 925 and 2004 hallmark on the reverse.

The chain construction allows the cards to sit naturally on either side of a double cuff and gives the cufflinks a traditional menswear character.

A Hallmarked 2004 Example

The cufflinks are hallmarked LL, 925 with a date letter for 2004.

That securely dates this particular pair and places them within the original Links of London period.

Condition

The cufflinks have been professionally cleaned and only lightly polished.

This has restored a bright sterling silver finish while retaining the honest character of a vintage pair. Light marks from general previous wear remain visible on both the fronts and backs rather than being polished away aggressively.

Vintage Links of London Box

The cufflinks are supplied in a vintage Links of London presentation box showing signs of age and storage wear.

The branded insert has been applied in what appears technically to be an upside-down orientation. This is not unusual on surviving Links of London cufflink boxes and appears to relate to the way some examples were originally assembled rather than later alteration.
