A bold statement design from the original Links of London Narrative collection, this Vintage Links of London Narrative Oval Ring is crafted in sterling silver with a professionally renewed 18ct gold-plated finish.
The design is centred around a broad polished oval plaque measuring approximately 23mm × 16mm. Around its edge runs a recessed line of small rounded bead details, creating the subtle bubble-like border associated with the Narrative collection.
The oval top measures approximately 2.8mm thick and sits above an open-shouldered ring construction. The shank itself is approximately 3mm wide with a smooth D-profile, balancing the scale of the large oval face without making the ring feel unnecessarily heavy.
Surviving retailer records identify this design as the Links of London Narrative Oval Ring and record an original retail price of £150 for the gold-vermeil version.
This particular ring is a UK size N.
The defining feature of this ring is the large, uninterrupted oval surface.
Rather than relying on gemstones or enamel, the Narrative Oval Ring places emphasis on shape, polish and proportion. The broad face gives the ring a strong graphic presence, while the recessed beaded border introduces detail without distracting from the clean central plaque.
The result sits somewhere between a signet ring and a statement ring, but the surviving historical name — Narrative Oval Ring — is the most accurate description.
A line of small rounded beads runs around the perimeter of the oval within a recessed channel.
This subtle border gives the otherwise plain face additional depth and is characteristic of the decorative language used throughout the Links of London Narrative collection.
From the front the beads read as a fine frame; viewed from the side, the recessed construction gives the top more sculptural definition.
The inside of the shank is marked S925, N and carries the Links of London three-ring logo. It is also hallmarked LL, 925.
No date letter is visible.
The combination of S925 marking, size stamp and house logo is consistent with later Links of London production, but without a date letter we do not assign this individual ring to a specific manufacture year.
The ring has been professionally cleaned and polished before receiving a fresh layer of 18ct gold plating.
The renewed surface gives the ring a bright, even gold appearance while retaining the original sterling silver Links of London ring beneath.
Although this design was historically sold in gold vermeil, we describe the present restored surface as 18ct gold plated unless the thickness of the new plating is independently confirmed to meet the technical definition of vermeil.
The ring presents very well following professional restoration, but it remains an original vintage piece rather than newly manufactured jewellery.
Its renewed finish should therefore be understood as part of the restoration of an original Links of London ring, not as a claim that the piece is unworn or new.
Professionally cleaned, polished and freshly 18ct gold plated, the ring is in good vintage condition with a bright renewed finish.
