A distinctive symbolic design from the original Links of London years, this Vintage Links of London Hand of Fatima Hamsa Disc Charm is crafted in sterling silver and centred around a cut-out Hamsa hand motif.
The front of the circular disc is decorated with a series of concentric lines that repeat and echo the outline of the central hand, creating a graphic layered effect around the negative-space design. The reverse is finished in smooth polished silver, giving the charm two very different visual surfaces.
The Hamsa, also known as the Hand of Fatima, is a traditional hand-shaped symbol associated with protection and good fortune across several cultures and faith traditions.
Known by the original Links of London product reference 5030.1336, this example is hallmarked LL, 925 with a date letter for 2010.
The design uses the Hamsa hand as negative space rather than as a solid silver figure. The hand-shaped opening forms the centre of the charm, while repeated stepped lines spread outward across the surrounding disc.
This treatment gives the traditional symbol a distinctly graphic character. From the front, the eye is drawn inward through the repeating outlines towards the hand itself; from the reverse, the charm becomes a simple polished silver disc with the Hamsa silhouette cut through its centre.
The Hamsa is an ancient hand-shaped symbol found across Middle Eastern and North African cultural traditions. It is commonly associated with protection, good fortune and the warding off of harm.
The term Hand of Fatima is particularly associated with Islamic tradition, while related forms are also known as the Hand of Miriam in Jewish tradition.
The Links of London design does not add inscriptions or religious iconography, allowing the hand motif itself to remain the focus.
At 16mm in diameter, the disc has enough presence to work as a small pendant while remaining compact enough for bracelet wear.
The standard 9mm × 7mm oval Links of London bail will take a suitable necklace or bracelet up to 5mm wide. A split ring is supplied for attachment to a Links of London Sweetie bracelet.
The charm has been professionally cleaned and polished and is in great condition. The concentric detailing remains clearly defined, while the polished reverse retains a bright silver finish.
