A distinctly British design from the original Links of London years, these Vintage Links of London Pound Coin Cufflinks reinterpret the visual language of British currency as a polished sterling silver accessory.
Each seven-sided coin front is centred by a prominent £ symbol and engraved around the border with the Links of London name. The shaped outline recalls the distinctive geometry associated with British 50 pence and 20 pence coins, while also reflecting the longer history of recognisable shaped coins within British currency design.
The coin fronts are joined to oval swivel backs by curved sterling silver bars, creating a secure and practical fastening while preserving the clean appearance of the design when worn.
The design draws on one of the most recognisable features of modern British currency: the shaped coin. Its seven-sided outline recalls the familiar geometry of the 50 pence and 20 pence, while the central pound symbol makes the inspiration unmistakable.
Rather than reproducing a particular circulating coin, Links of London created its own jewellery interpretation. The repeated house name around the border replaces conventional coin inscriptions, turning the familiar visual language of money into a confident piece of British design.
London references appeared throughout the original Links of London collections, sometimes through landmarks and symbols, and sometimes through more subtle design cues. These cufflinks belong to the latter group.
The pound symbol, shaped coin outline and Links of London lettering combine into a design that feels unmistakably connected to Britain and to the brand’s London identity without relying on a literal tourist motif.
Each coin front is attached to an oval swivel back by a curved sterling silver bar. The swivel fittings rotate for easier insertion through a shirt cuff and then sit across the buttonhole to hold the cufflink securely in position.
At 16mm across, the coin fronts have enough presence to make the design clearly visible while remaining suitable for formal shirts and tailored clothing.
The cufflinks have been professionally cleaned and polished and are in good vintage condition. Light signs of previous age and use may remain, consistent with their history.
They are supplied in their original Links of London presentation box. The box shows marks and wear from years of storage and is therefore in used vintage condition, but remains useful for storing or presenting the cufflinks.
