A distinctive sculptural design from the original Links of London years, this Vintage Links of London Double Cross Pendant is crafted in sterling silver and formed from two open cross shapes intersecting at right angles.
The three-dimensional construction gives the traditional cross motif a much more architectural character. From the front it reads clearly as a cross, while from an angle the second intersecting form becomes visible, creating depth and a changing silhouette as the pendant moves.
This example measures approximately 20mm high, 12mm wide and 5mm thick. It is hallmarked on the reverse LL, 925 with a date letter for 2010 and also carries the Links of London three-ring logo.
The pendant has been professionally cleaned and polished and is in great condition.
Unlike a conventional flat cross pendant, this design uses two intersecting open forms to create a fully three-dimensional structure.
The additional depth gives the pendant a strong geometric presence while keeping the openwork construction visually light. As the piece turns, the relationship between the two crosses changes, giving the design interest from several angles.
Surviving records identify this type of Links of London piece as a Double Cross Pendant, a name that accurately reflects the construction.
The second cross is not applied decoration. It forms part of the structure itself, intersecting the principal cross and creating the 5mm depth of the pendant.
This particular pendant is hallmarked LL, 925 with a date letter for 2010 and carries the Links of London three-ring logo.
The dated hallmark securely identifies the production year of this individual surviving example.
The pendant has been professionally cleaned and polished and is in great condition, with a bright sterling silver finish that clearly defines the openwork structure.
